I am not here! Tiny House Scotland has closed permanently because I retired in 2021 in order to design and build my own house here at Shangri La Farm.
After a year of design and planning and jumping through Structural Engineering hoops, I finally received Planning Permission and a Building Warrant for the project.
I started building all the modular wall and roof panels in the workshop in January 2023 and after 5 months and 46 massive panels later it was finally time to take the roof off our existing house in preparation for the actual build. My gorgeous glulam post and beam frame arrived from Austria on the 7th June and it took me and my JCB telehandler 3 weeks to assemble and raise the frame and then a further 3 weeks to add all the finished pre-built panels to the outside. I did all the walls and the three sections of 40 degree roofs myself then got a crane in to help lift the rest of the 20 degree roof panels into place. The Passivhaus windows were installed by the beginning of August and we moved in by the end of the month while I continued to wire and plumb etc. At the beginning of October I started the standing seam roofing in my favourite painted aluminium verdigris finish and by November I was back inside doing the underfloor heating on the whole of the ground floor.
Phase two started in Spring 2024 with the building of an additional 5 panels for the rear shed extension which was to replace the original 1930's bungalow. 5th June I started the demolition of this existing house and by the end of the month was ready to put the remaining structure in place and roof it off.
To be continued...
